New on the site

The brand-new, $78-million spring-training complex for the Red Sox gets our scrutiny in our in-depth review ... I've completely updated the chart that shows all of the parks I've ever visited. It now includes the teams with new parks for 2012 and that moved to new cities. By the way, I've visited 317 parks in the Majors, spring training and the affiliated Minors.

JetBlue Park

Fenway comes to Florida

Our in-depth review of JetBlue Park at Fenway South is now available for your reading pleasure. You'll learn about the inspiration for its wavy roof, its incredible array of food choices, its own Green Monster ... plus there are over 30 photos that you won't find anywhere else.

Joe on
the go

Here are the games I attended in the past week: Round Rock Express 4/14; Marshall U 4/17; West Virginia Power 4/17; U of Charleston 4/18 (oops! rained out); West Virginia Tech 4/20; West Virginia U 4/20. If you follow us on Twitter then you'll see photos from all of these parks. I'll be in Frisco, TX on 4/24. BTW I'll visit the new park in Pensacola on May 12.

Camden Yards

Happy Birthday, Camden Yards!

Twenty years ago this month, Baltimore's Camden Yards hosted its first Opening Day, a day I remember very well. The Baltimore Sun takes a look at how the Orioles are committed to keeping the ballpark updated and "fresh," so it might be around for another 50 years or so. The New York Times did a similar piece on how Camden Yards is keeping up with the newer parks.

Dodger Stadium

Big League ballpark notes

Did you know that 13 MLB ballparks will offer "nut-free" games this year, which are meant to appeal to fans with peanut allergies? ... April 10th marked the 50th anniversary of the opening of Dodger Stadium (left), and the team put together a large celebration ... WCCO TV in Minneapolis provides an interesting look at the way groundskeepers prepare the field for opening day at Target Field ... With all of the hoopla surrounding Opening Day around the Majors, I really hope this story doesn't get lost -- as the Rangers unveil a statue of Shannon and Cooper Stone outside Rangers Ballpark ... As Marlins Park opened to rave reviews, USA Today compared the new gem to Camden Yards, which revolutionized sports architecture when it opened 20 years ago. Meanwhile, PETA pulled a stunt at Marlins Park reminiscent of what they did at Petco Park in 2004 ... Much is being made about Fenway Park's 100th birthday, including a special exhibit at the Hall of Fame.
